ANNOUNCEM
ENTS:   April 22, 2024 - Monday

We begin this gathering by acknowledging the land on which we gather is the traditional territory of the Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabe peoples, many of whom continue to live and work here today. This territory is covered by the Upper Canada Treaties and is within the land protected by the Dish With One Spoon Wampum agreement. Today this gathering place is home to many First Nations, Metis, and Inuit peoples and acknowledging reminds us that our great standard of living is directly related to the resources and friendship of Indigenous people.

“Hello Saints! Welcome to Multicultural week! We are so proud to highlight and celebrate the beautiful diversity of our school, not just this week, but always. This week each day we will have foods from around the world available for purchase in the cafeteria. Today's lunch is inspired by traditional Indigenous dishes. Also at lunch today we will be joining our Indigenous community members in an ally activity creating Two row wampum key chains. The two row wampum is an agreement between the Haudenosaunee and Dutch settlers. The agreement is represented by two parallel rows-. One row symbolizes the Indigenous canoe, and the other represents the European ship, travelling down the river of life together but never intersecting. Come to room 107 at lunch if you would like to make a keychain with us and learn more and if you have questions about the week, please see Mrs. Bryce or Ms. Balyk.
