Senior Boys Basketball:

Yesterday, our boys went into their playoff game as the underdog against a feisty Great Lakes team. There's a lot I want to say about the game, but I'll leave it at this. Our boys played hard, our boys played smart, and in the end, our boys played better as they fought through a tough fourth quarter to emerge the winners with a 64-56 OVERTIME win. Your coaches could not be more proud of your efforts, and your ability to persevere through the challenges of the game.

On Monday, the boys will travel to Smithville to take on the almost-undefeated first place team for the Zone Final. We will be taking a limited number of fans on the bus with us to come out and support the team. If you would like to join the bus, please see Ms. Mauro or Mrs. Campbell for a permission form. There is a $2 fee as well as the required permission form to be allowed on the bus. This will be on a first come, first serve basis.

Finally, reminder to the Seniors of your practice right after school. Attendance is extremely important as we prepare for the final.

THIS IS A CONTINUATION OF THE BOYS BASKETBALL ANNOUNCEMENT:

Attention any fans if you want to come watch the game on Monday: Forms for the fan bus will be outside of room 320 and 328. Students must submit both their signed form and a toonie in order to be added to the list. This can be done only the following times:

During Period 3 to Ms. Campbell in room 320. During Period 1 to Ms. Mauro in room 328. Or you can go to the gym at lunch or before or after school. DO NOT COME when we are teaching a class. Check the announcements on the Collegiate website if you need this info again.

The girls’ volleyball team finished off their season yesterday with a year-end tournament. They played extremely hard and made it all the way to the finals but after a couple of really tough sets and some long rally's, they fell short, losing to Franco-Niagara with our Collegiate girls finishing in second place. They showed great sportsmanship and played hard all year long. Fantastic season girls - be proud of yourselves!

Boys Basketball:

The Junior Boys team finished up their season last week against Stamford Collegiate. Juve and Enzo made their Collegiate debut on the court, and every player hit the floor for the game. Ms. White, while sad that she was unable to be at your last few games, is proud of your season efforts and how much you have all improved since November. Well done! If you still haven't handed in your uniform, please see Mrs. Campbell or Ms. Mauro to do that.

The Senior Boys head to Great Lakes Christian College today for their Zone Semi-Final game at 3:30. Good luck Seniors, you got this!

The gym will be closed today at lunch. HOWEVER, the Senior Boys Basketball team is expected there at the beginning of lunch for a mandatory team meeting.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: Tuesday, February 18, 2020

We begin this day by acknowledging the land on which we gather is the traditional territory of the Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabe peoples, many of whom continue to live and work here today. This territory is covered by the Upper Canada Treaties and is within the land protected by the Dish With One Spoon Wampum agreement. Today this gathering place is home to many First Nations, Metis, and Inuit peoples and acknowledging reminds us that our great standard of living is directly related to the resources and friendship of Indigenous people.
