ANNOUNCEMENTS:   March 8, 2024 - Friday

Today is International Women's Day and we are wearing purple to join people from around the country who are coming together to celebrate International Women's Day 2024. Today Collegiate celebrates the achievement of all our female teachers, office administrators, Principals and Vice Principals, Education Consultants, Trustees and Board of Directors.

According to Brock University History of Foundations, Female teachers
-had to be single
-once they were married and/or pregnant, female teachers were laid off.
-They were not considered true professionals because the few short years between school and marriage gave them limited experience.
-requirements for women teachers were lower than men’s, reinforcing the notion of lower pay.
-women were hired for the younger grades because they couldn't handle disciplining older kids
-They taught elementary levels because they could be more motherly
- They didn't teach high school because they were not considered scholarly
- They were undervalued and their salaries were lower.

Thank you for the female educators who led and created the change for all of us!!

Good morning Saints. The Multicultural Club would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge Ramadan, which begins on March 10th and goes until April 8, 9 or 10th. Ramadan, in Islam, is the ninth month of the Muslim calendar and the holy month of fasting. When acknowledging the month of Ramadan, people refrain from food and drinks between dawn and dusk. After the sunset prayer, Muslims gather in their homes or mosques to break their fast with a meal called ifṭār (pronounce if·taar) that is often shared with friends and extended family. The end of the Ramadan fast is celebrated as Eid al-Fitr, the “Feast of Fast-Breaking,” which is one of the two major religious holidays of the Muslim calendar. We wish a Ramadan Mubarak, to all those acknowledging, and a safe and happy March break to all!
