ANNOUNCEMENTS: June 1, 2025 - Monday
We begin this gathering by acknowledging the land on which we gather is the traditional territory of the Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabe peoples, many of whom continue to live and work here today. This territory is covered by the Upper Canada Treaties and is within the land protected by the Dish With One Spoon Wampum agreement. Today this gathering place is home to many First Nations, Metis, and Inuit peoples and acknowledging reminds us that our great standard of living is directly related to the resources and friendship of Indigenous people.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Today marks the beginning of National Indigenous History Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the rich cultures, traditions, histories, and contributions of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples across Canada.
This month is not only about learning—it’s also about listening, reflecting, and showing respect. It’s an opportunity for all of us to deepen our understanding of Indigenous histories and perspectives, to honour the resilience of Indigenous communities, and to think about how we can contribute to reconciliation in meaningful ways.
Throughout June, you may see activities, displays, or lessons that highlight Indigenous voices, stories, and achievements. We encourage you to take part, stay curious, and approach this learning with an open mind and respect.

Here at St. Catharines Collegiate, we are proud to be a school that values inclusion, respect, and belonging for everyone. As we raise the Progress Pride flag this month, we’re showing our ongoing support for the 2SLGBTQ+ community and celebrating the idea that everyone belongs here.
Pride Month is all about celebrating identity, diversity, and the courage to be yourself. It’s also a time to remember how important it is to treat each other with kindness, respect, and acceptance—every single day.
Whether you’re learning, listening, or showing support, every action helps make our school a safer and more welcoming place. Let’s continue to build a community where everyone feels seen, valued, and proud of who they are. Happy Pride Month, everyone!
